Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association

Tuition Reimbursement Now Available Through LAXPD University

The Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association (LAAPOA) is pleased to announce a new benefit available to Airport Police officers and other Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) employees. The LAXPD University program offers tuition reimbursement for qualifying personnel to enhance their job proficiency through education and training.

The program offers a maximum benefit of $6,500 per fiscal year to help employees continue their education by enrolling in accredited colleges, universities, trade schools, adult schools and other recognized institutions of learning. It will reimburse employees for the cost of tuition, laboratory, health and other fees necessary to complete registration and coursework.

To participate in the program, an individual must be an active full-time or part-time LAWA employee eligible to take Civil Service promotional examinations. They must also complete a Tuition Reimbursement Enrollment Program application after acceptance or enrollment in a recognized school and at least three weeks prior to the first scheduled class.

“LAAPOA is committed to helping our members learn and grow, both personally and professionally, and LAXPD University is a key achievement in making that possible,” LAAPOA President Marshall McClain says. “Increased access to education and training will aid our officers as we work to stay one step ahead of security threats and maintain public safety in an ever-changing world. We commend LAWA for extending this program to all eligible employees, and I hope many will consider taking advantage of the opportunity to pursue their goals.”
