At approximately 12:37pm on Monday, October 27, 2025, San Bernardino Co. Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 12300 block of Hollyhock in Rancho Cucamonga for a domestic violence call with an armed male threatening a female. At 12:42pm, Deputies arrived and were immediately met with gunfire by the suspect. Deputy Andrew Nuñez sustained a single gunshot wound and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton where, despite all life-saving efforts, he passed away at 1:13pm. Read More »

At approximately 10:25pm on Monday, October 20, 2025, Officer Lauren Craven with the La Mesa Police Department was returning from the San Diego Central Jail in her marked patrol vehicle when she stopped to assist motorists involved in a multi-vehicle collision on eastbound I-8 at Fairmount Avenue in the College Area. CHP officials reported a driver lost control of their vehicle and hit another car, overturned, and then came to rest on the freeway lanes. That disabled vehicle was then struck by another car. Detective Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Detective Victor Lemus, and Detective William Osborn were killed in an explosion at the Biscailuz Center Academy Training at 1060 North Eastern Street in Los Angeles around 7:30 a.m. Detective Kelley-Eklund had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for 19 years, assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau. Detective Victor Lemus, Detective William Osborn, and Detective Joshua Kelley-Eklund were killed in an explosion at the Biscailuz Center Academy Training at 1060 North Eastern Street in Los Angeles around 7:30 a.m. Detective Lemus had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years, assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau. He is survived by his wife, who is also a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, his three daughters, three sisters, who also served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, and four brothers. Joshua Lemont Byrd

Parole Agent Joshua Byrd was shot and killed in the Division of Adult Parole Operations at 7717 Edgwater Drive in Oakland at 12:48 p.m. Agent Byrd was transported to Highland Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. The shooter, a parolee who was released from prison a week and a half earlier, fled the scene, taking a bus and later stealing a car. He was apprehended and will be charged with first-degree murder.
