Funding for LAXPD’s Vehicle Fleet, Equipment and Upgrades Included in FY26 Justice Appropriations Bill Markup

The House Appropriations Subcommittee marked up its fiscal year (FY) 2026 bill for the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee this week. It included Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ requested $963,000 in federal funding to upgrade LAX Police Department’s vehicle fleet and equipment.

“LAAPOA has been an ardent supporter of its officers and members in advocating for better equipment, vehicles and resources for its police department. With high-profile events like the World Cup and Olympics coming to Los Angeles, I want to support and thank Congresswoman Waters for prioritizing our mutual constituents, the LAXPD, in the FY26 federal funding bill,” L.A. City Councilmember Traci Park said.

“LAAPOA is proud to have almost $1 million in federal funding for our vehicles and equipment included in this important phase of the FY26 federal funding process,” LAAPOA President Marshall McClain said. “We thank Congresswoman Waters for helping LAXPD replenish our diminished vehicles and equipment. Our requests for updated and upgraded equipment, and for the retention and replacement of officers, have fallen on deaf ears with the powers that be at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). It is refreshing to see a bipartisan Congress doing the right thing and helping LAX policing at this important time period.”
