American Alliance of Airport Police Officers

Blue Proud

As we come to the close of Police Week, AAAPO takes a moment to remember all of our brothers and sisters who have made the highest sacrifice on behalf of duty, and to be thankful for the support of our fellow officers.

Policing is a uniquely rewarding profession, but it comes with the understanding that every time we put on the uniform, there is a disproportionate chance, compared to other vocations, that we place ourselves in danger. We all know officers who have shown great bravery and selflessness.

The safety of the public is always at the forefront of any police officer’s mind. Our singular goal, from the moment we start work to the time our shift ends, is to secure and protect our neighbors. We are also committed to finding solutions to making our streets safer and our airports more secure. We are dedicated to protecting you from threats when others run away. Your safety is our priority.

“We go to work every day with the safety of the public on our minds,” said Marshall McClain, president of the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association and co-founder of AAAPO. “When we bring up security gaps or raise safety concerns, these suggestions are made with the sole intent of keeping our airports and the traveling public safe. That is our mission and one we take very seriously.”

“We are proud to be police officers,” said Paul Nunziato, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association and co-founder of the AAAPO. “We want to make our airport and communities better and safer places, so when we see something that jeopardizes safety, we are going to say something. We cannot be complacent with safety, whether it be on the streets or in our
airports.”
